Cold Hard Stats: Why You Need A Promo Video

Why make a promo video?

Sal says it always comes down to business and stats, so he wants to start with that.

Marketers who use video grew 49% faster than those who don’t. Eighty-one percent of businesses use video as a marketing tool – that’s up 63%! These are real statistics from different marketing agencies, YouTube, Facebook, etc. This can be something you not only do for yourself but offer as a product or service to other small businesses. If you can do it for yourself, you can do it for them. And it doesn’t have to be super expensive. There are video projects that Sal bids on where he is bidding $20,000-$40,000 on a video project. Your bids do not have to be that. You can be doing videos like this for small businesses for a couple of grand. If you follow Sal’s advice, you can produce, from script to final render, a promo video in under two hours. This is doing the editing, writing the script, everything. Keep in mind, we’re talking about two hours of effort here. Yes, it may take you a little bit longer because you’re not used to doing this and that’s okay. Don’t ignore the stats that are here, because it is going to help your business.

Mobile video

Mobile video consumption is rising at 100% every year. It’s doubling every year. Sal told this story not too long ago, “I was sitting in an Airbnb one day and I’m watching my team. One of my team members, her name is Erika, was just going through Facebook watching video, no audio on. And I asked her, and she said that was normal. That’s how she normally does it. That’s insane to me. And so these are the types of things that are happening.”

Now, a promotional video per se, isn’t going to be something that somebody is going to go home and be like, “Hey, I got to watch the next Sal Cincotta promo video.” But, it’s just a point that video is becoming part of our everyday life. This is what consumers are demanding and this is how they want to learn about a product or service. Think about you as a consumer. If you go to a webpage and the webpage has a video explaining the products or services or the webpage has a text detailing it, what are you more likely to do? For Sal, he’d watch a two-minute video explaining something versus reading for 10 minutes. So if you would rather do that as well, then this is what your customers are going to want.

YouTube

YouTube is the second most popular site behind Google. Google, of course, is the number one search engine. The number two search engine, YouTube. So we have to understand that this is how people are looking for data.

Video stats

Viewers are going to retain 95% of a message from video compared to 10% of the text they read. So if you want to get that message out about your brand and your business and your offering, video is the way to get to it.

Seventy-two percent of consumers say they would rather learn about a product or service through a video. It’s not just Sal telling you, 70% of consumers are saying this is how they’d rather learn about your product or service. You have a choice to make. You can continue to ignore them or give them what they desire. What better way to get your message across than in a simple minute and a half video?

Adding video to your emails

Adding video to your email will increase click through rates as much as 300%. Don’t get confused here and think that the video is embedded in the email, it is not. You would get flagged as spam and it’s not going to go out the door anyway, but you’re taking a screenshot of a video so that when they click it, they go to your landing page that has the video.

Videos under two minutes long are going to get the most engagement. Nobody wants to watch a 20-minute video. Perfect case in point, Sal was online trying to learn something about one of his cameras and he Googled the term he was looking for. All these videos came back and he went to click on the first video. It was a 15-minute video. He’s sure it was very detailed and probably had a lot of information that he didn’t care about. There was a video right next to it that was three minutes. He clicked on the three-minute video. It got right to the point, Sal got what he needed, and he moved on. He doesn’t have time to watch a TV show. That’s going to increase your click through 300%. That’s incredible guys. That’s the kind of stuff you want.
